Enrolment and Degree

In Germany the right to confer academic degrees is solely with universities, IMPRS doctoral programmes are therefore generally collaborations with one or more universities. The doctoral programme at IMPRS-UFAST is a cooperation with the University of Hamburg and students admitted to the research school will register as doctoral candidates with the appropriate department within the University’s Faculty for Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences.

The degree awarded upon successful completion is a “Dr.rer.nat” which is the German equivalent to the American “PhD” title.
